Vali Lalioti

I am a self-taught painter and Emeritus Professor of Creative XR and Robotics at the University of the Arts London. Painting entered my life in 2021 and has become an important part of a new chapter following a career in computer science, design innovation and robotics.

Working across painting, mixed media and emerging technologies, I explore what it means to be human in an age of intelligent machines. Through figurative and symbolic forms, my work reflects on connection, vulnerability and care across cultures, materials and ways of making.

My paintings have been exhibited in Athens and Hanoi, while my interdisciplinary work in robotics and XR has been exhibited internationally, including at the Royal College of Art and the University of Tokyo.
